  1. Sam told Claire that he will give up Max. And...that disappointed Claire because she tried to persuade Sam not to let everything go away. But..Sam did not change his mind and that ended up their relationship. Although it seems like Sam is an irresponsible guy, I, in some way, understand his decision because I think boys have harder time to feed a child than girls do...And mostly, Sam did not grow up with Mom's love...So I thought it will be much harder for him than..any other boys. And it will be better for Max to have better parents and environment to be raised with full of cares and loves.

    BUT...
Even though I understand this story...giving up Max was not a ending part that I expected...

  2. When I finish reading chapter 22, I just I can’t understand, but now, when I finish chapter 23, I just understand why Sam does it, he wants Max to have a comprehensive home, and a health grows up, he is to love Max, he is be reluctant Max, but, he knows, he can’t give Max anything if he want, because he also is a teenage, he also is dependency to his dad, so, be for him, he only can do is just give him up.

  3. In chapter 23, I think he will give up Max for adoption, poor Max. I know raising Max by himself is a lot of works. Taking care of child and studying for school at same time is almost impossible. I understand those situations, but I still hope he don’t give up Max. And I think Claire is kind of disappointed on Sam also, because she is keeping Emily, but I think Emily have a pretty good background I mean, parents, money, house… she is living better than Sam. Since Max is too young he might not even recognize his father anymore when he grows up.

  4. I don’t like chapter 23. When Claire talks to Sam he tells her he can’t do it anymore. Sam gives up on Max, I can’t believe it! I thought, the thought of giving up Max for adoption wasn’t in his head. Sam thinks Max deserves more, I mean yes Max deserves more, but what he deserves the most is to be with at least with one of his real parents. I like the fact that Claire tried to talk him out of it, I mean she’s in the same situation as Sam and she’s strong for Emily, I don’t think Claire can bear with the fact that Sam is actually going to give up Max for adoption. Mitch (Sam’s dad) questions Sam, why is he only thinking about it now… Sam suggests Aunt Jean to take Max, however Mitch explains how Aunt Jean is getting old and yeah…Well, one more chapter to go and at this point im upset with this book )=

  5. Chapter 23 was really interesting for me to read. At first, while I was reading chapter 22, I didn’t understand why Sam would want to give Max up for adoption. I was really upset about that whole thing. But now that I read this chapter, I understood why Sam wants to do it. I think I agree a 100 percent with Sam’s decision. I understand why he wants to give Max up for adoption. I understand that it is very hard for him and I understand that he wants what’s best for Max as a child and so on. I too, would have done the same thing if I were Sam.

  7. The way Claire disputes for Sam to hang on to Max is tear-jerking. You can tell she loves her baby and loves Max the same way, maybe she saw a future with Emily, Sam and Max. I know it’s upsetting for her but I think Sam just thinks that he doesn’t want Max to live a hard life. I think Sam shouldn’t have I think he could’ve done it. I think Claire’s right about Max having a real dad, even though its hard to support Max he should’ve at least tried. Many other situations make this hard, but for me I wouldn’t have given up so early. But, then again Sam wanted what was best for Max.

  8. He decided adoption for baby. But Claire dissuade to Sam. Sam is never change the mind. So, he told father. Father slaps Sam. I understand father’s mind. And then Sam and father finally decided adoptions. First, Aunt Jean so, they choose Aunt Jean. I’m only explaining the book story because I have a very big impact. Finish to they are choose the adoption. I’m sad and poor to max. I’m confused my mind. I’m little bit hate Sam.

  9. Omg, my opinion is similar to what I just wrote for Chapter 22. I read all the chapters and then wrote it down.. So I kinda put it all together in the last one.

But anyways, I did forget to mention somethings. I think giving up Max, was the best decision for his situation. Sam cannot give Max everything he wants and needs. So till then, he has past it on to someone he can give Max what he needs. For parents to see there children Lack neccessities is heartbreaking. Its one of the worst pains, Ive heard. So giving Max up was just for the best. I believe in that too.

  10. Chapter 23:
In this chapter I thought that Sam was going to tell Claire that he can’t see her anymore. I think that Claire and Sam were fighting. I think that Sam feel s bad for not watching Max and now Sam is thinking that he should give up on Max. i think that Sam is crazy if he gives Sam up for adoption because Sam is a good father it’s just that he thinks his not. I think that Mitch was shocked and pissed off. I think that Sam is crazy because he raised Max up for 11 months and only now he thought about that. It’s sad if Sam does it.

  11. I know it is hard for Claire to let Sam do what he wants to do for Max but Sam is Max’s father and Sam should do what he thinks is best for Max. I know it would be hard for Sam to let go of Max but if he think that giving Max up to a loving family is the right thing to do then he should do it. Max might not forgive Sam for doing that but Max should understand that Sam gave him up so that he could have a better life. I think Sam is scared that maybe Max would grow up and Sam doesn’t know what to do when Max has a problem and needs a mother at that time because Sam didn’t go through his teenage years with a mother.
