  1. I found this chapter to very sad. I didn’t really like it at all because of the events that took place. The worst part was when Katy found Jacobin their stable where she knew he had been for hours. I was right when I had assumed that Paul got Nell pregnant. However it was sad to find out that the poor baby died in Jacob’s attempt to save it. It was obvious that Nell didn’t want the baby who was born premature and so just like the lamb situation, he wanted to save the baby by giving it to a mother who would nurse and take care of it but with the rain and the night so cold it didn’t make it. I completely understand what he was trying to do and I felt bad when they sent him to the asylums which close down fifty years later with no trace of him whatsoever.

  2. Katy's father came back home with Jacob. Jacob was wet all over with rain and he was so shivering. Some men cmae to Katy's house and took him and Katy could not see him any more. After fifty years, the Asylum closed and Katy could not find Jacob Stoltz on any of the name lists. Jacob loved animals and all of the living things. He just tried to save a baby, but he could not talk, so people misunderstood him for any reasons.

  3. Katy woke up at the other side of her parents bed when the mother moved around the bed end got up, Katy just stayed lying in the bed and after a while she the mother came back in the room and told Katy not to go Down stairs or go to the baby’s room but just stay in this room, Katy was curious about what was going on she had no clue until the mother told her that Jacob has ran away from his house at the Stoltz family she knew where he was going to be. If my parents were to tell me that my friend or someone I know has run away from their home I would be more than glad to help the family go and look for their child.

  4. I thought this chapter was really sad. So, i found out what was in the room, and it was Nellies baby. I had no idea.KAty found Jacob in stable where Paul and Nellie had been before. He was asleep and was shivering, i felt bad for the poor child. The part where KAty's mom found another child in MAry's crib was just scary, and sad as well. I hate to go through that . Apparently Jacob thought Nellie didnt want the child so he took the unname child and brought her to Katy's mom where he knows they will take care of her, but walking under the rain, which was a long journey; the child didnt make it, Jacob meant to save the child not harm. I feel bad for him. I also feel bad for Katy because she hasnt seen Jacob fifty years later, where he had been put in the asylum.

Wham! Right out of nowhere the climax to this book just hits me! Jacob didn’t drown the baby after all, but instead gave it to Katharine’s mom I guess. I see how he thinks and I think he did a good thing. I don’t imagine why Nell didn’t want to support the baby. It’s just an abomination that someone could do that. I wonder if Paul knew he had a child and I wonder if Mr. Bishop knew also. I think that the Stoltz family should pay for what they were trying to do to that baby. I was about to think that Jacob drowned the baby! I really thought he was crazy then. But I’m not really sure yet because they confined him to the Asylum. It’s sad and horrifying though if he tried to do that.

  14. I wonder how these strange and varied standards evolved. What committee sat down and tried to design the ultimate plug and came up with each of these? I'd love to see/hear the "why" behind each one.
