Chapter 30 - Stand Tall

On page 175, Tree narrates, " In school, he and Sophie walked down the hall and Amber and her friends moved far aside fast when they saw them coming." How and why do you think this happened? Is this change "good" for Tree and his friends?

What do you think he means when he said, " phantom pain does get better."

  1. Chapter 30

I think amber and her friends moved aside because they now realized that what they did was wrong.I think they also figured that even they themselves have to go through the not only the flooding trouble but through many others as well. I belive this change is good for Tree and his friends especially Sophie because they won't be insulted or bothered by the bad people in this story. Maybe courage too was a part of this change and if they didn't cooperate with each other then none of this would ever happen. I think what he meant by phantom pain does get better is that the pain inside you wil heal when the time of happiness comes.

  2. The house is finally almost fixed. I'm so glad the house is okay because I was so worried that Tree might go through another depressing problem like his parents' divorce. Before his brothers leave, he gives them a neat present. I think this is an important part of this chapter because it really proves how much they tresure their family. I think Amber and her friends moved aside when Tree and Sophie were walking because they finally realized how Tree and Sophie could really be a great friend. They know that these two don't take revenge even though things aren't fair for them. They know how strong they are now. I think this change is good because now Tree and Sophie doesn't have to be treated unfairly and there's actually a chance to be friends with Amber. I know that Tree and Sophie will forgive them. I think the quote 'phantom pain does get better' means that when you tell yourself that everything is okay, everything will get better, then it'll eventually be okay and eventually get better.

  3. I think what tree did for his brothers is good and I think that tree and his brothers did a good job for taking the old and broken ones down. It is really touching to see a family do things together and bond it’s like you having a really good relation with a girl. I think they all did great and they should all just go back to their daily routines. I think Amber and her friends moved aside when Tree and Sophie were walking because they finally realized how Tree and Sophie could really be a great friend to all.

I think that Tree and Sophie have this great courage that Amber and her friends noticed. So I think that they can’t ever misjudge them again. However I think that it’s good to change for the better. I think that it’s good for Tree and his friends because they’ve always been stepped on but now is their chance to make a change and shine. Sophie is a good friend too. She helps Tree to stand up for himself. It’s good that she became a part in Tree’s friendship. I think that both of them make a whole. They understand each other and that they are going through similar problems. Sophie and Tree are going to make a difference along with Tree’s friends. I think that they all deserve to be what they are and not be miscalculated by people that have no respect for others.

In 1941, the Viet Minh – a communist and nationalist liberation movement – emerged under the Marxist-Leninist revolutionary Ho Chi Minh, who sought independence for Vietnam from France and the end of the Japanese occupation. Following the military defeat of Japan and the fall of its puppet Empire of Vietnam in August 1945, the Viet Minh occupied Hanoi and proclaimed a provisional government, which asserted national independence on 2 September.

In the same year, the Provisional French Republic sent the French Far East Expeditionary Corps – originally created to fight the Japanese occupation forces – to pacify the Vietnamese liberation movement and to restore French colonial rule. On 23 November 1946, French vessels bombarded the port city of Hai Phong, and the Viet Minh's guerrilla campaign against French forces began soon after. The resulting First Indochina War lasted until 20 July 1954.

  10. And there you have it! While quinoa is a much more South American dish than Portuguese, I find it’s fun to blend cultures a little bit. The sardines, in this case, were very tasty but also, very small, making the effort/meat ratio a bit high for my preferences. However, the little bits of sardine I did get are packed with omega-3 fatty acids and are downright delicious. Top this off with a side of hearty and dark mushroom quinoa risotto, and you’ve got yourself a very filling dish that is high in protein, and tasty in the palate. Wash it all down with a Lagunitas IPA, and you’ll definitely know you’re living the good life!

The Windows Control Panel like user interface and the intuitive graphic tabs for example make the product easy to learn. And, the automatic backup creation makes it safe to use - even if you are learning by trying and make a mistake sometime, you can always just restore the backup created by the program and you're safe again.

The construction plans faced opposition from those in the community who feared the project would displace the Drop Inn Center, the region's largest homeless shelter, and the design was revised to build around it.[85] By 2007, after more than a decade of fund-raising and negotiations, 90 percent of the final $72 million budget had been secured and ground was broken for a new building across from Washington Park in September of that year

  18. And Crookshanks was thrown to the floor as Black lunged at Scabbers; Ron yelled with pain as Black’s weight fell on his broken leg.
“Sirius, NO!” Lupin yelled, launching himself forwards and dragging Black away from Ron again, “WAIT! You can’t do it just like that — they need to understand — we’ve got to explain —”
“We can explain afterwards!” snarled Black, trying to throw Lupin off. One hand was still clawing the air as it tried to reach Scabbers, who was squealing like a piglet, scratching Ron’s face and neck as he tried to escape.
“They’ve — got — a — right — to — know — everything!” Lupin panted, still trying to restrain Black. “Ron’s kept him as a pet! There are parts of it even I don’t understand! And Harry — you owe Harry the truth, Sirius!”

Black’s face looked more skull-like than ever as he stared at Pettigrew with his fathomless eyes.
“No one’s going to try and kill you until we’ve sorted a few things out,” said Lupin.
“Sorted things out?” squealed Pettigrew, looking wildly about him once more, eyes taking in the boarded windows and, again, the only door. “I knew he’d come after me! I knew he’d be back for me! I’ve been waiting for this for twelve years!”

In 802 AD Jayavarman II declared himself king which marked the beginning of the Khmer Empire. Successive kings flourished which marked the Khmer empire's immense power and wealth who dominate much of South East Asia for over 600 years.

  22. In the Khmer language, the country is named Kampuchea (Khmer: កម្ពុជា). Kampuchea is a derivation of the Sanskrit term Kambojadeśa (Sanskrit: कम्बोजदेश). The Khmer people will often refer to their country using the polite form Prâteh Kampuchea (Khmer: ប្រទេសកម្ពុជា) which literally means "the Country of Cambodia". Cambodians also most commonly use the more colloquial word "Srok Khmer" (Khmer: ស្រុកខ្មែរ) which translates to "the Land of Khmers".

The term "bronchiolitis" generally refers to inflammation of the bronchioles.[1] DPB is classified as a form of "primary bronchiolitis", which means that the underlying cause of bronchiolitis is originating from or is confined to the bronchioles.[2][3] Along with DPB, additional forms of primary bronchiolitis include bronchiolitis obliterans, follicular bronchiolitis, respiratory bronchiolitis, mineral dust airway disease, and a number of others.[2] Unlike DPB, bronchiolitis that is not considered "primary" would be associated with diseases of the larger airways, such as chronic bronchitis.[2][3]
