  1. Chapter 17
It seems that Tree's grandpa finally has his leg after it had so many trips around the states. I feel proud of him that he won't give up walking with it and tranis himself until he can finally walk. I guess when people are older they try to go on with it and try to make it for sure. With that kind of confidence, it can help people move along too. I feel sorry for Tree's grandpa's friends that died in the war. Just thinking of how you're great friends died just makes me tear away. But I guess since they helped people, then they deserved something great in the afterlife.

It’s great that grandpa got a new leg. I can tell that he is very excited about it. I think he’s going to spend most of his time bonding time with his new leg. It’s his first try and it takes time to get used to it. I think he’s enjoying it and that he’s happy to have his new leg. Tree gets the entire war story from grandpa and that’s how he lost his leg. I found grandpa to be very brave and have a lot of pride in him. He’s still a soldier in the inside. Sometimes Tree would imagine stuffs about the soldiers. I think that grandpa is trying to make a soldier out of Tree. I can tell that Tree is brave enough but it’s just that he doesn’t show it.

  3. I feel so happy for grandpa because he finally got his leg. I think this world is really full of miracles. The way the technology has improved over time is unbelievable. Every time I hear about grandpa’ experience in the war, I feel like its unfair because he had to fight in another war. Tree is learning how to walk through his new life and grandpa is learning how to walk with his new leg. Either way is hard, but there’s always an answer to a problem. I think war gives us nothing. It only takes away lives, and gives us worries. I hope there is peace everywhere in the world .

  5. If I were to be in Doon’s shoes, I would probably still go on with my search for a way out of ember because I would rather find a way out of the city than to stay with all the darkness. I would rather be someplace better where food will never run out, and where there will be a lot of light. I would still go on with the search, however, I think it’ll be harder without Lina being around to help figure things out. I do think that it was wise of Lina to bring along Poppy with her because I wouldn’t want to leave my little sister behind in a city with no life at all.

  6. It's so great that grandpa finally got his new leg. Thanks to God. I'm so proud of grandpa that he never give up. It's lucky for me to have no disability. Grandpa seems like he's so happy with his new leg. And he shares entire story of the war with Tree.

  11. The sweetbreads, of course, were excellent. Tender, moist and with the chicken jus it actually had a palate ‘lightening’ effect, compared to the chicken jus. Jessica’s three cheeses arrived, neatly arranged on a plate with three sauces on the side, an agave nectar, tarragon dijon mustard and a lingonberry reduction of sorts. The cheeses were quite tasty, my favorite of which actually might have been the bonne bouche, which features a nice robust nuttiness and creaminess that paired really well with any of the berry sauces, but in my opinion, went even better with a manly sip of Orval.
