Chapter 26 - Stand Tall

Tree cried at the end of the chapter. Why do you think this happened? Would you have done the same if you were in his situation? Why or why not?

I know how Tree feels because losing things that are important to you is hard to get over. When you live in a house that held the people you held dear holds numerous memoies that are complicated to forget. I guess it happened to me to multiple times before I moved out of the homes I used to live in. Yet, even though I got over it, I never got over the things that made me stronger. Tree cried because he loved the house he was in before his mother and father had a divorce. His own home is his where he was most of his life and now it was broken.

  2. The rain has finally stopped. This is happy news, but happy news is not the only thing there. Everything is ruined and destroyed from the hard rain. The book doesn't mention if anyone was hurt, but Tree's house was totally damaged. Losing a home is like losing kyour life because it's where most of your memories are built up. I think the house is like a symbol of your memories. By the way, there's sill no news from Sophie. I hope Tree's grandpa and dad find some kind of way to put back the house together. It can't be exactly the same as before, but similar. I think Tree cried at the end because that house is where he's been living in sicne he was born. Everything is there. Also, the house reminds him of his happy moments with his parents. If I was him, I would have done the same thing, because it would feel like I lost my treasure. There is no place like home, and if that home is gone, I would feel so sad.

  3. I think this chapter is really touching because they all went back home and they found what was left of their house which was completely damaged there wasn’t anything left for them to rebuild their homes with. I felt bad when tree went to that little corner and started to cry, I think tree just broke down and let whatever he had out. For me tree is strong but he is just too tired to do anything for his family and I think tree just needs a break for himself to just go and calm down and feel free to roam around.

I think it’s because he’s been going through a lot of stuffs and all of a sudden this thing strikes. It’s like it builds up more for him to fix and to deal with. Also I think that he really loves his home and that it’s destroyed by the flood. I think I would definitely break down and cry if I was in his situation. I think it would be so hard for me to cope with it. But I think that Tree is very strong and that he can handle it well. Sometimes you just have to let it all out. It feels good when you let everything out like releasing all the grief and stress out instead of holding it in there. Tree absolutely didn’t want this to be memory for him. It’s enough already with the divorce that he’s trying to deal with now. I think I know how he feels at this moment.

  5. THe rain stopped. Tree's house were seriously damaged by the rain. I think Tree cried because he lost his house. Home, where you spent most of your time. Losing home means losing memories, because that's the place where most of your memories are in. And Tree has been used to that house. Even though he gets new house, it won't be the same.

  6. The safety measures imposed on the students since Black’s second break-in made it impossible for Harry, Ron, and Hermione to go and visit Hagrid in the evenings. Their only chance of talking to him was during Care of Magical Creatures lessons.
He seemed numb with shock at the verdict.
“S’all my fault. Got all tongue-tied. They was all sittin’ there in black robes an’ I kep’ droppin’ me notes and forgettin’ all them dates yeh looked up fer me, Hermione. An’ then Lucius Malfoy stood up an’ said his bit, and the Committee jus’ did exac’ly what he told ’em. …”

  8. The miso soup was good (have you ever had bad miso soup?) and the tempura vegetables were also very tasty. I used to greatly enjoy them when eating lunch specials at Sushi Hana, and in this case I got a chance to go back to my roots, dunking deliciously fried vegetables into that dark and tasty sauce that accompanies them. Jessica enjoyed that sauce so much we kept it, trying it with different sushi as well! The eel roll was pretty standard, and the spicy tuna was good, Jessica enjoyed the heat, though I would have enjoyed it a bit hotter. Luckily, this is a place where the sushi is made right, so I was able to add the wasabi to my liking and really jazz up the roll.

  14. There was a ringing silence. Everyone’s eyes were now on Lupin, who looked remarkably calm, though rather pale.
“Not at all up to your usual standard, Hermione,” he said. “Only one out of three, I’m afraid. I have not been helping Sirius get into the castle and I certainly don’t want Harry dead. …” An odd shiver passed over his face. “But I won’t deny that I am a were¬wolf.”
Ron made a valiant effort to get up again but fell back with a whimper of pain. Lupin made toward him, looking concerned, but Ron gasped,
    “Get away from me, werewolf!”

“What about it?” said Ron defiantly.
“He’s got a toe missing,” said Black.
“Of course,” Lupin breathed. “So simple … so brilliant … he cut it off himself?”
“Just before he transformed,” said Black. “When I cornered him, he yelled for the whole street to hear that I’d betrayed Lily and James. Then, before I could curse him, he blew apart the street with the wand behind his back, killed everyone within twenty feet of himself — and sped down into the sewer with the other rats. …

After a long series of wars with neighboring kingdoms, Angkor was sacked by the Ayutthaya Kingdom and abandoned in 1432 because of ecological failure and infrastructure breakdown.[22][23] This led to a period of economic, social, and cultural stagnation when the kingdom's internal affairs came increasingly under the control of its neighbors. By this time, the Khmer penchant for monument building had ceased.

The provinces were ceded back to Cambodia by a border treaty between France and Thailand in 1906.

As the Vietnam War progressed, Sihanouk adopted an official policy of neutrality in the Cold War, although he was widely considered to be sympathetic to the communist cause. While visiting Beijing in 1970 he was ousted by a military coup led by Prime Minister General Lon Nol and Prince Sisowath Sirik Matak, who had the support of the United States. The king urged his followers to help in overthrowing this government, hastening the onset of civil war.
