  1. I like how Sam’s family can bond. When Sam was little he had quite a good/fair life, really different from now. His family would always go out fishing and each played a role. His mom made efforts to join them in fishing and teach Sam how to fish even if she felt so sick. I can see that she didn’t just want to stay in the house and let her family worry about her condition and feel like there’s no fun in life. Sam and Mitch seemed to have a really strong father-son bond; I think their relationship is better than now.

  2. Chapter 18 wasn’t really all that interesting. In my opinion, I think that this chapter was pretty normal. It was kind of nice to read. I think that it is really nice how Sam and his parents have some family bonding time. I think that it is really good how they all go fishing together. I think that Sam is very blessed to have parents like his because there are a lot of people out there who don’t have what he has. He should be thankful for that. I also think that Sam’s relationship with his father is better back then when he was a kid than right now that he’s much older. I think that their father-son bond grew apart. That is all I think about this chapter. I don’t think that it was all that interesting.

  3. The flashbacks bring back some memory and I doubt that Sam won’t miss any of those times. I wonder if there is a movie for this book and I enjoyed much of reading it and I bet watching it would be an alright movie. It’s good that they enjoy each other’s acquaintance which started ever since Sam was young. Some fathers don’t do that much bonding and as shown throughout the book they both enjoy the company of each other. Also with the mom being there it’s a good family bond and the family that go out together stay together.

  4. This chapter reminded me that once Sam was a child who received all the loves from the parents. This chapter was when his father, mother, and Sam went fishing. From the morning, Sam's father called him and Sam reacted with cheerful and jocular ways. They seemed really happy and joyful. However, after he made a mistake with Brittany and that disappointed his father, the belief disappeared with the smile his father always gave him. This brought the wide gap between father and son. I think their father-son relationship got worse after his father started not to talk to Sam. I felt bad about this because I can not imagine what the family relationship will be like without conversation.

  5. In chapter 18, it was an early Saturday morning in the past. It was a day for little Sam to go to a family fishing with her mom and dad. It looks so happy and family is having a time together. I use to go fish with my family also, but now there is no family time, everyone is busy, I really miss those times. And I realize that relationship between Sam and his dad seems totally different from the past and now on. Sam’s father seems bright and he was like the one of the father who likes to spend time with their child. I wonder what makes Sam’s dad a different person

  6. When I finish reading chapter 18, you can imagine to Sam is how happiness and happy when he is eight years old. I think his happiness only stops over in when his mother be alive. But, I also felt so sad, because when he was younger, he lose his mother and love of his mother, I think if his mother didn’t death, perhaps, all now isn’t same, even I sympathize the dad from Sam too, because yes, he is hard too, I hope that Max can be different from Sam.

  7. When he was just eight years old, He was going to fishing with Dad and Mom to have fun time. Sam had a good family. But now mom was dead and he has baby. So, I think his father is very hard because Dad is helping Sam and Sam’s baby. So, it is very anxiety. I think is not more conversation of family. So, more have to communication with Dad because Dad is disappointment.

  9. Sam’s childhood days must have been very enlightening and memorable. Going fishing with his dad, having talks about him taking the truck when he turns 16. All those things really matter. It’s really exciting to reminisce on. The way his family is, is just like my cousin I mentioned earlier. Bonding with your family, having a great time and making it memorable is something very powerful. Its something you can carry on in your memory. Sam has wonderful parents, he should keep in mind to be thankful for the gift. Some people never had parents like that. This chapter wasn’t really attention catching, but it is kind of touching.

  10. I like this chapter alot. I love the family bonding and the chemistry.I love a family like this..Especially when his mom teaches him to do things even though she knows that she is sick. Because also she dont want her family to worry about her. I would want my family to be like this. were sometimes like this but I dont want it to be sometimes. I want it to be all the time..Im happy fro Sam and his dad because they have an even better bonding now than how it usually was.

  11. this chapter was king of ok but got boring at some points.i think that at this point in Sams life he was the happiest kid on earth.i think that when Sams mom died everything just got hard for sams dad.i think that if sams mom was still alive he wouldn't have any problems with anything.

  12. I feel sorry for Sam. Like some people say, “You’ll never know when someone will be taken away from you so treasure every moment with them”. In chapter eighteen, Sam is talking about how he, his father and his mother would all wake up so early Saturday morning just to go fishing. Sam would catch bigger fishes then his dad would. My mother is in the states right now, sometimes I just wish I would follow her when she asked me to so I could spend every holiday with her. To me it sounded like if Sam’s mother were still alive life for Sam and his father would be less complicated.
