Claire says, " I never see my old friends either, either. It's like they thought pregnancy was contagious or something. Either that or I was some CBS Afternoon Special."
Sam replies, " Poster child for the dangers of teenage sex."
What do you think of these statements? Is there any truth in them? What do you think is the real reason why their old friends don't get to hang out with them that often?
Being pregnant during the teenage can be embarrassing, people will talk about you, because all people know that pregnancy in teenage life is wrong and that’s how we taught also. And if you have a baby, you won’t have a same amount of time with your friends than before. You have to take care of the baby, and you will spend more time with the baby than friends. After time goes, old friends will be far away, because while you are taking care of the baby, they probably met somewhere without you and spend time together. One day they might forget about you.
ReplyDeleteI think these statements are true, I’ve seen people in these situations and it’s sad how they loose their friends but if they are your true friends they’ll stick with you, regardless. For some parents when they see that their child’s friend is pregnant they ban them from hanging out with them because they see this as an influence on their children and the last thing a parent would want is for their child to be pregnant during their high school years and then drop out because they can’t handle a baby and school, and the truth is they don’t want to be judged. When teens are pregnant their friends isolate themselves maybe because they’re afraid their reputation would be ruined or their parents won’t allow them to hang out with they’re pregnant friends, because other people would start talking and would just judge them right there.
ReplyDeleteI think the statements are true. Having a baby during teen age is not normal. We hang around with our friends and find commons in each other. But Claire's intentions started to only focus on Emily. And unfortunately this is not a common case every teenager can feel. While her friends talk about their boyfriends' stories, movies on the theaters, or else, Claire has to think about what meal she has to feed Emily, how many diapers are left, or else.
ReplyDeleteShe sometimes has to make excuses to cancel weekend plans with her friends because of Emily.
There are so many things she has to take care of and these make her friends feel that she is not interested in their subjects anymore.
Moreover, I think Sam's statement is true. Parents tell us to be careful with having a relationship when we are teenagers. Same as Claire's situation, when we are in an age of 17,18,or 19, we have to put our all minds into not only our dreams and goals but also our memories of highschool years with friends and activities. I am not saying teenage sex is BAD but if we do things wrong and that brings a big problem, that does not help us with our teen age which happens only once in our whole life.
About Sam’s statement “Poster child for the dangers of teenage sex." is just lacking confidence about himself; he should bring himself up more especially since it’s already hard for him since he’s a father. Even though it’s true or although he said that he probably meant it as a joke. Anyways what occured in the past can’t be taken back, but can be avoid again in the future. So we realize our mistakes. I guess the reason Claire said that was because she doesn’t have time to hang out anymore; taking care of a baby is a 24/7 hour job. Also probably because her friends didn’t want to feel like they were bothering her.
ReplyDeleteI think these statements are true, because during pregnant in teenage can be embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteIf your pregnant in teen age, the people will talk about you, because all people knows that pregnancy in teenage life is wrong and that’s what the people is talking about.
Claire is talking about like that if you are pregnant in teenage life, and you have a baby, that you will miss your old friends. You just have to take care of a baby, and you will spend more time with your baby tan friends. After time goes, your old friends will be far away because while you are taking care of the baby, your old friends probably met somewhere without you and spend time together. One day they might forget about you. It is not bad to have a baby, but what I mean is that if you are pregnant in teenage life it can embarrass to you.
I think these statement is true, because we’re just teenage, just an age for study or plan our future, if have baby, this is not normal, and their old friends, you know, their just older than them, so, one of reason is about their friends have no baby or about sex, but younger people have baby, their think about this is not normal; second reason is about when everyone plays together, but they must take care of the baby, so ,nobody would like hang out with them. On statement of Sam, I’m agree, because the teenagers is curious sex on the teenage.
ReplyDeleteThose statements are massively harsh. It could be said like that, or it could be said in a nicer way. I think its probably not because their friends have forgotten about them, but the fact that their friends are thinking that they are too busy. Not because they think its contagious. Pregnancy is done differently than touching there hand, Giving a hug etc! Sam should already understand that he is a parent, he has responsibility now. Unlike his friends who are free. Having a child could change your whole life. So he and Britney should have thought about it before doing it. Or at least use a condom. They can not take it back, but they can only deal with it and go forward.
ReplyDeleteI think that there is some truth in those statements. I think that the reason why their friends don’t get to hang out with them is because they think that Sam and Claire are too busy taking care of their babies and they don’t want to bother them. Or I think that their friends just lost touch because Sam and Claire go to an alternative school now and they hardly see their friends now. Or I think that some of their friends are ashamed to be around them, or their friends’ parents don’t want them hanging out with people like Sam and Claire because they might be a bad influence, or something like that.
ReplyDeletefor me, what i think is these statment are true because im pregnant and i know hoe it feels. I havnt lost all my friends yet but I hacve a feeling someday I wouldnt have alot of time to spend with them. Probably just here in school. But if their true friends and thay want to be with you on every step of you and the baby's way. then they should stil be your friend.THATS WHAT REAL FRIENDS ARE FOR.
ReplyDeleteChapter 10
ReplyDeleteI think that Sam really did well on the test. Because he’d really worked hard studying for the test. And I’d also think that he really misses spotting with his friends and going out with them. I also think that he wants to live the rest of his life with Claire because I think he is really in love with her.
i think the reason why their friend dont really hang out with them are because maybe their thinking that Sam and Claire are to busy with school and watching their babies. or maybe they just dont talk anymore because of different schools. being a parent is not an easy job to do and thats why i think that they dont really keep in touch with their friends. i do think those statements were true.i they were real and true friends then they would have been there and helped them throughout the stress and all the problems that may occur.maybe their frien were ashame to be hanging out with them because they think that its embarassing to be seen with a pregnant teenager.
ReplyDeleteI think pregnancy isn’t contagious due to the fact that I have never seen anyone hung out with someone pregnant then get pregnant themselves. I think that the real reason why Claire’s friends don’t hang out with her mush is maybe because her friends’ parents told them not to. Maybe their parents thought that if their child hangs out with a teenage parent their children might think it’s easy because how Claire takes care of her child in public. Although, what they didn’t know that Emily was good innocent around other people then when it’s only Claire she’s evil. Every parent wants to see their grandchildren grow up but no parent wants to see their teenager with a child, struggling.

ReplyDeleteI think that they're friends feel different about them. I think it's the way they view them now. It doesn't hurt to talk to them but to leave them behind just because of what happend, I don't think thats a true friend. Also I think that they're ashame to hang with them. Sometimes freinds can change but we have to understand that people change. It's just hard for them to talk to them the same way they used to talk to together. Sam and Claire's friend can learn their lessons from them because they've experienced it. Somtimes, I think that not all friends are going to be there with you. It's the unexpected that will come and help.
