Saipan Southern High School book club members and other island teens discuss their books of interest by writing their thoughts about the book choice of the month.
Chapter 13 Vince Luka is kind of really angry at Alex because he always follows vince and his girl friend where ever they go the reason why he always follows is because Kendra bightly vinces girl friend always invite and call him to hang out with them where ever they go. Later on that day Vince luka and his girl friend Kendra Bightly were walking around in the mall someone called to Kendra and told her “HI” as they both looked up to the second floor Vince saw someone that shouldn’t know that he’s dating that person was Kendra’s father, vince ran away but Alex stayed and he was the one who was pretending that he’s the boyfriend of Kendra
I think this is the best chapter yet. The part I thought was great was when Kendra, Alex, and Vince all just finished watching a movie at the mall and bumped into Kendra’s father. Vince was surprised and mad at the same time because he didn’t want to meet him. Kendra started getting mad at him until Vince told her about who he really was. I thought it was a smart move when Kendra pushed Vince aside and grabbed Alex instead and introduced him as her boyfriend to her father, I thought that was really funny. I really liked the part where Kendra came out of the bathroom and started kissing Vince so passionately telling him that she didn’t care who his father was.
This chapter is the climax of all the other chapters. Finally, Kendra knew what Vince’s father does and why Vince avoided her father. I felt it before that it’s like Romeo and Juliet and it is. This chapter also makes me think about my relationship between my girlfriend and I. If I am in this case, I am curious how I’m going to keep it. I know I love her so much to keep everything between us, so I should keep them all.
Chapter 13 was really interesting for me. This is definitely the best chapter I read so far. I like the part where they just got done with a movie and they bumped into Kendra’s dad, I found that part funny because Vince over reacted and told Kendra who he really was and also when Kendra introduced Alex instead that was funny. I was shocked as I was reading because after all that argument when Kendra came out of the restroom she and Vince started making out and little did he knew she didn’t care who his father was. This chapter overall was good.
Finally, the curtains are unveiled and the secret revealed! I knew that one day or another that Vince's identity will be shown; he can't keep THAT kind of secret(having a mob dad) forever from his girlfriend, or anyone else. I could feel the sweat trickle in Vince's back during the unexpected situation- the surprise, shock, and shake. I was very curious how Vince would escape the dilemma, and it turns out that Alex became the superhero. Speaking of Alex, I feel the loneliness, envy, anger, and discomfort Alex was feeling the whole time. He's hurting himself twice as much when he follows them to their mall date; For one thing, I wouldn't go dating with a couple by myself.(That's just sad!). I hope he stops bugging the two by finding his own soul mate, and making the "love life" he always wanted.
When I read this chapter, I was really into it. Finally, Vince confides the secret to Kendra. This just happened in an instant. I know Vince tried his best to hide a secret from Kendra but when he saw she’s father is coming up, he just told her that he is a son of the Luca. But I really surprised that she choose Alex instead of introducing Vince as her boyfriend. It was a short moment, and I think she made a good decision. But I thought she’s not going to see him again but I was wrong. When she got out of restroom, she kissed him really hard besides ask him something or ignore him. I felt so warm and comfortable, that’s why I really like this chapter.
This is the chapter where things get freaky.i never thought Vince and Kendra would run into Agent Bite-me, but they do.after watching the movie Kendra sees her dad and gets all excited about introducing Vince to him, but Vince tells her the truth and yet she introduces Alex as her boyfriend.i really liked this part because i thought Kendra would get all mad, but shes actually happy.do you believe the saying, expect the unexpected?Kendra likes the fact that Vince's dad is the guy her dad is going after.its like Vince didnt need to hide anything.
Vince and Kendra were at the mall with Alex just hanging out here and there. When somebody behind them said, “hi.” They both look up and sees Kendra’s father. When Vince saw Kendra’s father he ran away, Alex was introduced as Kendra’s boy friend. Before Vince ran away he told Kendra who he is. In this chapter Kendra Bightly finally knows what Vince Luca’s father does as a living and Kendra also knows why Vince was avoiding her father. This chapter is like the climax of all the other chapters.
Not deep by any standards, this book does have an amazing correlation to Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." Vince and Kendra, being the "star-crossed lovers," and their families of completely opposite backgrounds makes the book suspenseful and comical.
I would keep this book away from kids under 11. There's nothing X-rated, but there is some suggestion of sexuality. This is a great book for younger teenagers. I hope you love it as much as I did!
