  1. Lina’s grandmother still not found what thing she want, but, when Lina ask her about what thing about that, she can’t answer to her, from here, I always said about that like when I read chapter 4, I think it is about that box, but, also, I’m not sure. In the now, wherever we can see so many color pencils, but in that dark of city, they can’t, so I can think what feeling Lina has when she saw a color pencil. Then, at night, she with Poppy come out, and she seeing a man who was let her send a message to mayor at here sale something. When she with Poppy caome to here, and she seeing more color pencil, when she talk with him, she lose her sister, that is not all wrong of Lina , but, it is so carelessness of her, also, it is a bad thing , even Lina so scare, but, she found her at finally. I wish no more next time like that, because it is so bad.

  2. Ember- burning fragment: a small piece of glowing or smoldering material from a dying fire. I don’t know how it relates but Ember is like a dying particle flame and the City of Ember is on the verge of dying or destruction. My personal definition, Ember is like a place where everything is falling apart, their running out of necessities, and they’re on the brink of losing everything but their citizens. It’s like the city is slowly vanishing and they are trying to survive with whatever they have left. They hold on too old things and recycle whatever they see that they can use, just to keep them going.

  3. Define ember:
    1. remains of fire: the glowing or smoldering remains of a dying fire
    2. remains of passion: the dying but not yet extinguished remains of a great emotion, especially love
The City of Ember is “dying” it’s reaching or it’s on its final approach of shutting down for good. Like it said in the intro its set on a time, like an hourglass reaching its final pinches of sand. That’s the City of Ember, and sooner or later it will stop. It may have a change, but what chances does it have if you can’t see what you work on? Small remains of fire light up, and unlike real fire the City of Ember will crumble for good unless a new one is found and built. Or the other definition for ember #2 says about passion. Lina has a passion to get out, find that place she drew on the paper.

  4. This chapter is about on Night Street. Lina would come home rifling through the kitchen cup board, surrounded by cans and jars with their lids off, or tearing the covers off her bed and trying to lift up the mattress with her skinny arms. I so think this chapter is like a Dark chapter because it is like going to dark. If I were Lina . I will be scare when I across the dark streets.

  5. Ch. 5 On Night Street
In this chapter, Lina’s grandma still finds what’s lost. While Lina is working, at least now there’s another someone that can help granny take care of baby Poppy. Mrs. Murdo the lady that helps granny is a very much responsible and clean person. I hope to be like her. Now, their place sounds even more cleaned than before. At least now when Lina gets home she don’t really have to clean up after any mess or even worry if her sister was okay or not because she knows that her baby sister is well taken care of like the house. This city sounds to me like it don’t really have many things or supplies to buy.

  6. Chapter 5 “on Night Street”
I think this chapter is going to be base on no power in the street and they are looking for what they lost or there thinking of what they have lost because they forget so there you go that’s I think of the of I didn’t read the chapter yet

  7. Still Granny was looking for something she lost. I wonder what that is.. it’s making me so curious about it. And I wonder how people will feel when a man who has been to the unknown region show up and saying that there are nothing out of Ember except darkness and monsters. That will be a disaster for the people. Generator is breaking down and the city is surrounded by monsters. And they have no way to get out of that city; they should find a quick way to fix the generator before it halt forever. I wonder what is mayor is doing when city is in big problem…

  8. This chapter was somewhat interesting to read. I’m glad that Lina’s grandmother has someone to keep her company and at the same time help her take care of Poppy while Lina is busy with her job. I think that the city of ember is a whole other world. Their resources are very little and they recycle a lot of things. And I cannot believe that the man in the store sold one colored pencil for five dollars each. That is really expensive. I was a bit worried when Lina had lost her little sister poppy. I thought that someone took her away or something bad happened. But I was relieved when someone found. I was actually shocked when that person was Doon. I’m just glad that Poppy was alright.

  9. Interesting how things worked out from what I was complaining about in the previous chapter. I would define the city of ember as an isolated world from the rest of the human civilization. I think its similar to being in a different dimension. Like theres a door somewhere hiding in the city of ember that will get them out. The mayor might probably in panic mode, since he has no idea about how to resolve any of the problems. I dont totally blame him though, as it was never his fault that the secret box was never handed down to him and was never given any heads up or warning. Anyways, Doon finding poppy made my heart beat go back to its original rythm.

  10. In this chapter, Lina’s grandmother found what she was looking for. And I was relief about that there is Mrs.Murdo who could share some burdens of Lina. Because she has known Lina’s family and can take care of Poppy, that brought some more spaces for Lina to focus on her job. I felt sorry for Lina because whenever she tries to do her thing, she has to look for Poppy at the same time. And Poppy seems pretty handful. And in this chapter, I was amazed by Doon’s action, rescuing Poppy. I found out that Doon is really a good-hearted guy who desperately wants to put all his effort to save the city and people who are around him.
